Cross-dressing thieves stun store customers with pepper spray

Police said a pair of cross-dressing shoplifting suspects pepper-sprayed customers at a Boynton Beach Home Depot as they tried to get away. Boynton Beach police said three men, two of whom were dressed as women, were arrested after the incident on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said a Home Depot employee confronted the suspects at the main entrance. That's when the suspects used pepper spray to douse the employee and several customers. "Several people who were in that area of the store at the time were affected, including one woman, who actually … passed out from the effects of the fumes," police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater said.

Four people were taken to the hospital, and two others were treated at the scene. Police said the suspects got into a red Ford Explorer but were stopped by a Boynton Beach police sergeant, who took them into custody.

The suspects were later identified as Jeffrey Baldwin, Kendal Lowry and David Tucker, all from the Miami area. Police said Lowry was wearing a tank top and boots, while Tucker was wearing a pink shirt and denim skirt. They face charges of armed robbery and aggravated battery.
