Boy attacked by same dog for second time in three years

It was déjà vu of the worst kind for 14-year-old Hunter Blackwood of Roseville, Michigan. On Monday while he and a friend walked past the yard where the Akita who attacked him 3 years ago lives. The dog leapt up and bit him again.

Hunter says, “I didn't see him. He smelled me; waiting for me I believe that". Police have released photos of Hunter’s near fatal injuries from the attack in 2008.

His father, Tim Blackwood, describes what happened to his son then. “My son hospitalised for 5 days, 100 stitches." When Hunter’s mother got the news she was beside herself. Gina Blackwood says, "I thought this can't be happening again."

As part of this investigation Roseville Animal Control officers wanted the dog quarantined. Generally being outside would be fine but the Akita is just too powerful for the 4-foot fence to contain while his owner is away at work. The dog has now been transferred to Macomb County's animal facility.
