Naked 'Mr Universe' in early New Year’s revelry

A homeowner in Upper Chichester was startled on Monday night when his front door was kicked in by a naked man. Miguel Mateo Rodriguez, 27, allegedly shouted “I am Mr. Universe,” to Officer Christopher T. Jones, who was called to the scene by the upset homeowner. According to an affidavit, Rodriguez was naked when he kicked in the door of a house at around 10:57 p.m.

The homeowner called police as Rodriguez allegedly walked up and down the block. Jones turned a spotlight on Rodriguez and ordered him to stop. Rodriguez allegedly stopped, then turned toward the officer and began running. Jones again ordered Rodriguez to stop and drew his stun gun. Rodriguez stopped this time and was ordered to the ground.

He complied, but allegedly kept trying to get up, claiming he was “Mr. Universe.” Backup arrived and Rodriguez was handcuffed. The victim told police he was inside his home when he heard his front door being kicked in. When he went to the door, he saw a naked man walking across the street to another home. Rodriguez then turned around, began walking back toward him and yelled, “Happy New Year,” before running off again.

The front door of the victim’s home, the door jam and the interior wall were damaged in the incident. Rodriguez was transported to Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland for treatment. He is facing charges of open lewdness, indecent exposure criminal mischief and related offences.
