Woman finds dried gecko in can of fruit and nuts

A woman found something shocking in her can of mixed fruit and nuts. "I didn't get sick," said Lisa Parendo, of St. Michael, "I got grossed out and was sick because I was grossed out."

Three days later, she still can't believe what she found. "I was really disgusted," she said, "especially since I was still eating out of it."



On Sunday, she bought the blend at a store near her St. Michael home. And on Monday, Parendo said she found something in the can that she thinks is a dried-up gecko. "I think that my chances of winning the lottery are better than finding a dead gecko in my food," she said.

As you can imagine, Parendo was disturbed. She called Kraft Foods, which makes the Planters mix, and was told they'd investigate. They also made an offer. "Can we send you out some coupons or put you on our e-mail list? And I just laughed. I was, like, I'm good," she said.
