An abusive husband who attacked his wife for giving him too many sprouts for dinner has been jailed.
Raymond Kay, 60, threw his plate in a rage and bit wife Mary, 61, on the nose.
Prosecutor Sophie Ewulo told Chelmsford crown court: “He continued to rant about sprouts all weekend.” He then punched his wife of 37 years in the eye.
Kay, of Felsted, Essex, who admitted assault, was jailed for 16 weeks and given a restraining order. He got a further 16 weeks after admitting a road rage offence.
