Man wakes to find his garden path stolen

An Earby couple were shocked when they opened their bedroom curtains and saw seven holes in the grass where a path had been the night before.

The path pilferers struck at the Stoney Bank Road allotment, managed by Mick Tempest and his partner, Claire Inman, overnight October 14th/15th, and got away with seven York stone slabs.

Mr Tempest said: "When I opened the bedroom curtains and looked out I couldn't believe my eyes. Those slabs have been there as long as I have been there for about 10 years now.

"How did someone (or rather at least two people, because those slabs are heavy) mange to steal them without any one hearing?" York stone is very expensive and he urged anyone who was offered seven York stones at a reduced rate to report it to the police as they could be stolen property.
