Toddler deafened by prank

A toddler has been left deaf in one ear after a joke toy was pushed through a letterbox and exploded in her face.

Two-year-old Keira Tasker was traumatised when a Bomb Bag went off in the family's home in Stanley Street, Seaham, and her mum Louise Fleetham is calling for the toys to be banned.

The 24-year-old says the explosion left her daughter deaf in her right ear and partially deaf in the other. Police cordoned off the road and evacuated the pair.

Louise said Keira walked into their kitchen with the small foil sachet which was expanding.

She said: "Then it went off and exploded in her face. I want these things banned, they caused deafness in a two-year-old."

Louise believes three boys were responsible for posting the bomb bag just after 5pm on Tuesday.
