Woman blocked traffic then flashed passing motorists

A 23-year-old woman was arrested after police said she parked her vehicle horizontally on the Garden State Parkway, blocking traffic and exposed herself to passing motorists. At around 6 p.m. Arika Felder, of Plainfield, parked her car horizontally across three northbound lanes near exit 109 at mile marker 109.5 and got out of the vehicle, according to State Police. Felder then began flashing motorists, police said.

When a State Trooper approached Felder, she ran away from him and got into her car, according to police. The trooper, whose name was unavailable, approached the open door of the driver's side of her car and attempted to stop Felder, who hit the accelerator, dragging the trooper 20 yards before crashing into a concrete barrier on the left shoulder at mile marker 111.5, police said.

The trooper and Felder were taken to Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, where Felder was evaluated and the trooper was treated for minor injuries before being released, according to police. Felder was not injured, police said.

Felder was arrested for aggravated assault on a police trooper, eluding and resisting arrest with bail set at $15,000 pending a psychiatric evaluation. Felder was committed to Anne Klein Forensic Center in Trenton. No other accidents were reported due to this incident.
