A mother has been criticised for allowing her teenage daughter to have semi-permanent tattoos on her face.
Fourteen-year-old Sophie Watson from County Durham, who wants to become an actress or singer, needed parental consent for the radical procedure.
Sophie had eyeliner, lipliner and a fake beauty spot painted onto her face. The effects will last about five years and cost £1,200.
Questioned about the procedure on live television, Sophie's mother Joy defended her decision: "Well it is semi-permanent. It's very subtle. I was happy that she knew what she was getting into, it wasn't a whim," she said.
